Babes on Back

Moncton to Port Hawkesbury

Sleep alluded me last night as it did my comrade. However, we finally awoke to an overcast morning and had a filling breakfast in a busy morning cafe. After finding all the niches we could find on the bikes, we were packed and ready to go at 10:15. Unfortunately, Tara was not able to connect with us on our intercoms so she travelled in a vacuum while the rest of us were able to communicate. We headed out on the Trans Canada towards Nova Scotia which border was crossed around 11:00. We stopped at a tourist centre and were directed towards a coastal road which took us along the Northumberland Strait up hill and down. The scenery was great with many mud flats, turbines, CBC cirque de soleil short wave radio antennas and wild fox running across the road. Lunch in Tatamagouche was delicious with Alan trying mussels gumbo. We continued on to Antogonish and arrived in Port Hawkesbury Cape Breton by 5:30. NO RAIN so far and it was a great day of riding. Good news received by T&D when we arrived, Jessop got a PERMANENT job with DSBN starting in Sept. woohoo! Congratulations! After a super dinner in our motel restaurant Miller, more chowder, mussels and lobster rolls we headed to our room. A fabulous first day of 4 travelling together.
