We were up early so we could get our laundry done before leaving Sheila’s house (an Avanti cosinger). It was sunny and already a warm day so Dwight decided he’d ride in his shirt sleeves. The rest of us wore our jackets because we had no place to put them on the bikes. We headed out at 9 sad to leave such an enchanting place. We retraced our route along the Cabot Trail we took the day before. The guys were looking forward to the climb and decent of Smokey Mt. while T&I were just glad to get it over with. The decent was crazy with hairpin turns as well as very steep stretches that had us just about on our noses. T videotaped the whole thing while me, I just hung on. We stopped for breakfast at the Dancing Moose where we enjoyed a Dutch Pannekoeken which is a crepe with bacon, mushrooms and whatever else you want cooked in it with eggs and cheese on top. D enjoyed a 12″ while the rest of us had a 9″. We continued on the C Trail with all of its potholes, bump signs and rough road. Finally near the end of St. Ann Harbour we hit new pavement and the twists and turns were a real joy. Then we hit the TCH and we headed down to the causeway back onto the mainland of NS. We stopped for a well needed drink then with the 110 speed limit drove for 2 hr. straight to Truro. We gassed up again, had a large intake of liquid due to the 29 degree temp. then rode our last stint to Halifax catching sight of a bald eagle in flight and the Annapolis Valley. We made it to our motel by 5:17 having ridden 450 km. our longest day ever. We enjoyed a swim and hot tub, ate at Smitty’s where we reminisced about the 15 days on the road together-we’d made it to Nfld. and Halifax…unreal!

Hey Sharree,
I have really enjoyed following you through NFLD and NS but it has left me a little home sick. 🙂 You have taken some beautiful pictures and it has been great fun to read your notes along the way. I have also enjoyed checking in on Alan although I haven’t commented on his blog. His pictures have also been beautiful. I’m glad you had a good time but we miss you at the library so get on that plane and get back to work! See you soon
